Large Scientific Instruments
Precision Equipment
Large scientific instruments like high-power lasers, particle accelerators, and experimental nuclear reactors provide information about the structures and behavior of matter.
These insights enable new discoveries in chemistry, biology, physics, and nanoscience, and enable the development of innovative solutions in medicine, industry, and technology.
IRELEC helps make large scientific instruments more precise and reliable so they can continue to support breakthroughs for a better world.
High Power Lasers
Laser mirrors direct and control the laser beam to meet the needs of specific experiments. These precision components are crucial to achieving the desired interaction between the beam and the sample.
Thanks to its 40 years experience in designing and supplying optical systems for Synchrotron beamlines, IRELEC is also a partner of choice for providing high power laser facilities with tailor-made mirror systems.
IRELEC has the know-how and facilities needed to assemble complex optical systems in clean environments (ISO class 5)
Particle Accelerators
The supply of instrumentation for particle accelerators is part of IRELEC history, as IRELEC was involved in the major French scientific programs, since its creation in 1985, thanks to a close relationship with research centres as CEA, CNRS and ILL.
IRELEC is used to fusion multi-disciplinary expertises in various fields to turn-key systems:
Expertises
- Mechanical engineering
- Automation
- Vacuum technologies
- Cryogenics
Example of realizations
- Opto-mechanical devices
- In-situ inspection robots
- High-speed rotary machines
- High-voltage supply equipment
Thanks for to its expertise in Synchrotron beamline instrumentation, IRELEC is a natural and reliable supplier for Free Electron Laser facilities. Recent projects for high performance optical systems for the European XFEL in Hamburg and the SHINE FEL in Shanghai are the guarantee of IRELEC’s recognition and seriousness.
Nuclear Fusion Research
IRELEC was involved in the early design of the Laser MegaJoule project for fusion by inertial confinement with the supply of the Plasma Diagnostics for the HE-LIL facility.
Today IRELEC is supporting the development of the ITER, the world’s largest tokamak, a magnetic fusion device that has been designed to prove the feasibility of fusion as a large-scale and carbon-free source of energy based on the same principle that powers our Sun and stars, by bringing its know-how for developing robotic systems operating in constrained environment.
In addition, IRELEC forges close links with start-ups in the fusion field to develop innovative solutions, particularly in the field of cryogenics, to optimize the design of the industrial fusion reactors of the future.
