Turning Box System for High-power Laser
A precision turning box for a new-generation research laser
The Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI) is the world’s first scientific instrument that can probe the interactions between light and matter in the ultra-relativistic range. France-based Amplitude Technologies turned to Irelec to provide a turning box for the ELI Attosecond Project.
IRELEC, a trusted partner for precision equipment for big science
IRELEC brought its decades of proven experience supplying sample holders and mirror systems to synchrotrons to design and build an ISO 5-compliant retractable laser mirror system compatible with use under ultra-high-vacuum (UHV).
The components of the UHV retractable laser system delivered
- One holder for a 300 × 450 × 80 mm laser mirror
- Three in-vacuum, motorized, encoded, and independent positioning axes (1 translation and 2 rotation stages)
- Three laser windows (DN400)
- The electrical feedthroughs
- The control electronics and the control system
